Closed chain exercises
The end of the chain extremity that is feet or hands, farthest from the body is fixed during exercise. Some examples are pushups, pullups, and squats.
Open chain exercises
The end of the chain extremity farthest from the body is moving during the exercise. Usually the machine exercises.
Why do they matter?
That’s because closed chain exercises will have to involve more muscles such as stabilizer, synergists of muscles during the movement.
